Puttu

Puttu is a traditional and most popular breakfast dish of Kerala prepared with rice flour and coconut. It is rich in carbohydrates, proteins, sodium and potassium which makes your kid healthy.

It is made of steamed cylinders of ground rice layered with coconut shavings, sometimes with a sweet or savory filling on the inside. Puttu is usually a breakfast dish served hot with either sweet side dishes such as palm sugar or banana, or savoury with chana masala, chutney, rasam, or meat curries.

Puttu is excellent for diabetic patients; however, make sure to eat minimally. Always mix a small piece of puttu with some curry to avoid over eating. Try making puttu in coconut shells or bamboo. Sprouts or Bengal gram curry tastes best with puttu.
